You know we love touring Marin County as much as we love doing so in San Francisco…BOTH have so much to offer! That’s why we offer a San Francisco private tour called Town & Country, which includes highlights of each.

One of our favorite spots to visit in Marin  is Mill Valley, and guess what? Smithsonian Magazine has named Mill Valley one of the top 20 small towns in America! Well naturally, we agree…check out this article we wrote about things to do in Mill Valley a few months ago for Nancy D Brown‘s travel blog. Here’s what Smithsonian Magazine had to say:

It's not a dream!

You know we love it when guests on our San Francisco private guided tours say something wonderful about the City or about their Carried Away San Francisco experience. Hearing each person’s unique perspective on a town we love so much is one of the best things about our job. A couple of weeks ago a guest visiting from Wisconsin said:

This city is so amazing, and this experience is so great. I’m afraid I’m going to wake up tomorrow morning and realize this day was just a dream!

We ran into this guest a few days later exploring an area of town that we suggested (we sent her off with a list of our favorite things to do), and she recognized us right away, which led us all to conclude that her day out with Carried Away really did happen!

We’re headed out today with our San Francisco private tour guests who are interested in the San Francisco street art. These guests had spent some time on our Carried Away SF flickr stream, where we’ve posted alot of the art we encounter on a daily basis. They decided that they wanted us to design their San Francisco custom tour through the lens of urban art, so we’ve created an outing for them which does just that.

During their outing they’ll experience mosaics, sculptures, Banksy work, huge murals, houses that have been turned into works of art, and a couple of really interesting retail environments which basically function as art galleries.

We’re super excited to show our guests this side of San Francisco. We can create a special “lens” for you too, just let us know what your interests are and we’ll get to work on your unique tour of San Francisco!

Did someone say house coffee?

If you’re looking for a couple of really great San Francisco cocktail destinations, please allow us to offer a few suggestions. In our jobs as San Francisco private tour guides, we are always on the lookout for great places to recommend to our guests, hence we do alot of reconnaissance. It is a tough job, but you know what they say…

Without further ado:

Maven in the Lower Haight. This is without a doubt our favorite spot right now, and it is ALL ABOUT the cocktails. Get the Three Little Birds! The  rosemary in the cocktail is just so refreshing. Oh and that savory tart is to die for.

Spruce in Presidio Heights. A world away from the Lower Haight. A beautiful spot with a small bar and one of the best drinks in town – The Bitter Berry Bramble. And really you should get the burger, you will not regret it.

Comstock Saloon in North Beach. A step back in time offers up the Cherry Bounce. Tasty and strong and perfect with the cheddar crackers with pepper jelly.

and a bonus...Tosca in North Beach at the end of the evening for a house coffee (pictured above) is a great way to wrap up your day in San Francisco.
